2010 Finalist National Competition for cover of Watercolor Magazine

Watercolor still life featured in Summer 2010 edition
My exhibitions today almost always includes both watercolor and oil.
I am a professional artist, born and raised in Philadelphia. I now live in Montgomery County where I teach watercolor. I also teadch, lecture and exhibit in Bucks County.
Though a lifelong watercolor painter, I've added oils to my repetoire only 5 years ago. I have principally focusd on landscape "en plein air" and have been exhibiting and teaching in both mediums. Though I made my principal living in graphic design and advertising I kept my hand in fine art whenever I could.
I am still principally a " plein air painter" because I believe that the best work is always begun outside on the site and in most cases brought close to finish in a single sitting. I finesse details only in studio.
Typically I work quickly and with conscious attention to brushwork. Lately I have begun to add figures and animals into my landscapes in order to bring " life" to my canvas. Another new direction is a series of abstract " landscapes executed in acrylic paint on canvas, paper and board. They will first be shown in January at the Red Raven Gallery in Lancaster PA.
Please take some time to wander around my galleries. If you find interest in a painting you may contact me through the email feature for sizes, price and etc. on this website. They are reasonably priced and most are available as reproductions for under $100.
